Student Spotlight — MICHELLE FRAWLEY
                                     of Derby, Vermont

Michelle Frawley has an Associate Degree from Champlain College in Burlington, Vermont, and has worked as a legal secretary for a real estate and probate attorney for 19 years. Michelle says she has gained a lot of experience and learned a great deal over the years working in the legal field and from her boss — an 84-year-old attorney who has been practicing law for 56 years and still works six days a week.

Michelle also has home schooled her children for the last 17 years. Since her youngest child is now a high school senior, she decided it was time to further her own education. Michelle shared her reasons for continuing her studies, “There are a lot of changes that take place over a 19-year period with technology, terminology, and document work that I wanted to be brought up-to-date and gain more insight. I enrolled with Penn Foster last August in the paralegal program. The education is excellent and the cost is very affordable. I have enjoyed all of the classes and completed three-fourths of the program. After I receive my diploma for the Paralegal Program, I am going to further my education even more with the Real Estate, Wills, and Trusts Certificate Program. It’s been so exciting to learn that it gives you the desire to continue. You get a great sense of accomplishment and achievement from these long distance programs at Penn Foster. I highly recommend them to anyone of any age no matter where you’re at in your career or if you’re just beginning. It’s a great way to start and it’s never too late to better yourself!”

Featured Program — PARALEGAL

Lawyers in the United States are delegating more responsibility for legal work to their Paralegals. Paralegals help prepare for closings, hearings, trials, and corporate meetings. They research appropriate laws, judicial decisions, legal articles, and other materials relevant to pending cases. Paralegals prepare legal arguments, draft pleadings and motions, obtain affidavits, and assist attorneys during the trial.
