Penn Foster College is proud to offer free Early Childhood Webinars to all our students, future Early Childhood Education students, or just the plain curious.  This July we will be talking about a wide range of Early Childhood Education topics such as moving into a career as an Early Childhood educator to assisting with CDA Competency.

Topic - Enhancing StoryTime

Presenter - Rachel Tajan, ECE Grader At Penn Foster College

Synopsis - During this session, we will explore the topics: why story time or read-alouds are important, how to enhance your read aloud, extending beyond the story time, student success, state the reading and language skills students gain as a result of being read to on a daily basis, identify how to choose books for storytime, state how to enrich story time so that students get the most out of a read aloud each day, and brainstorm ideas on how to extend the book for children to make storytime more valuable.

Topic - Competency Goal III: To Support Social and Emotional Development and to Provide Positive Guidance

Topic - Holistic Approach for Early Childhood Education

Synopsis - A holistic view means that we are interested in engaging and developing the whole person. We can think of this as different levels, physical, emotional, mental and spiritual. It's the concept that the human being is multi-dimensional. We have conscious and unconscious aspects, rational and irrational aspects. As in early years child is in developmental stage. Holistic approach helps in motor development, cognitive development, and socio-emotional development. In this season Varun will cover how holistic approach helps in overall development.

Topic - Building Family Engagement and Community Within Your Program!

Synopsis - Participants will learn the importance of family engagement in the education process. They will obtain ideas and strategies to build engagement with families in order to build a stronger sense of community in their program. The strategies will include how to involve families in their child's learning through home-school connections as well as how to get families into their programming to increase community engagement.

Synopsis - Attention parents, teachers and librarians: popular Pete the Cat, his White Shoes, and his Groovy Buttons are Rockin’ their way into story times in homes, classrooms and libraries everywhere!  Join us for the next edition of our "Author Study of the Month" webinar series as we're looking at Eric Litwin and Pete the Cat.   In this visit, we’ll take a closer look at fun games and creative activities based on Mr. Litwin’s trending books.  Teacher and Children’s Library Program Coordinator Katie Walsh will share easy and engaging cross-curricular activities and exciting story time extensions, and will offer suggestions on how to easily incorporate an "Author of the Month" into your setting each month.  Attend one or all twelve of the "Author of the Month" sessions.
