For each live presentation attended, you will receive a certificate to share in your portfolio or to hang in your early childhood classroom/office. Please note that certificates will be given only to those of you that have logged in by clicking on the link sent in the confirmation email. Furthermore, to earn a certificate, you must be logged in for the entire session.

Synopsis - Join Penn Foster Librarian Betsy Reichart and an ECE instructor for any upcoming APA in ECE Open Office Hour Session. In this informal Q&A session, we will discuss APA citation, references, research, resources and more. Bring your questions and take-away information that will enable you to be successful in your Early Childhood courses and written assignments. Attendance is optional for this Open Office Hour; no Certificates of Attendance are awarded for participation in this session.

Topic - Thematic Approach for Developing Communication Skills among Preschoolers

Instructor - Varun Ashokan, Guest Speaker

Synopsis - The presentation is based on empirical study of the children aged between 5 and 6 in multi-lingual setup. The theme-based curriculum has experimented in a multilingual inclusive preschool. Mixed method design was used to for the study. Twenty-five children of were participated and studied at the age of 5 to 6 years. Pretest and post-test were used to measure the product of the receptive, cognitive and expressive skills of experimental and control group. Five themes (Parts of the body, community helpers, fruits & vegetable, seasons and festivals) were used to prepare Thematic Approach Module and observed and video recorded to see the process of receptive, cognitive and expressive communication skill of experimental group. For children who were initially low performers, benefited through the experiment and the evidence will be presented.
