Amanda Kato is the Externship Coordinator for Penn Foster’s Medical Assistant Program as well as the instructor for Introduction to Allied Health. She joined the Penn Foster team as a grader of Medical Transcriptions and Biology Research papers in 2012 after completing nursing clinical rotations and her Associate degree. Shortly after grading, she was promoted to Adjunct Instructor for the Medical Assistant Program where she worked for 4 years while pursuing her B.S. in Biology and Biological Research. Amanda worked in the Biology Lab at Millersville University for 2 years and was invited to present her research at the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania University Biologist’s Conference. Amanda was awarded for her research and became published prior to graduating. After receiving her B.S. degree, she was promoted to Externship Coordinator in July 2016.
What are some of your interests?
I love to research and learn. Outside of expanding mentally, I absolutely adore my Newfoundland and anything that has to do with nature.
What is one piece of advice you’d like to give students?
Don’t let anyone else be the author of your story; you hold the pen, and you begin and end each chapter.
