SCRANTON (January 7, 2013) - Penn Foster, a leader in career-focused online education designed to address the skills gap in America, today announces The American Council for Exercise (ACE) approved the school’s Sports Nutrition Program for continuing education credits. Individuals who complete the Sports Nutrition Program at Penn Foster can now receive credits towards maintaining their personal training credentials.
“We are pleased to expand our continuing education offerings,” said Frank Britt, CEO of Penn Foster. “As with all the programs we offer, the Sports Nutrition Program provides students with a self-paced, supportive learning system that goes far beyond the traditional classroom. Thanks to the American Council for Exercise, we are now able to better position current and prospective fitness professionals for career and life success.”
The Sports Nutrition Program, which teaches students the essential knowledge and skills needed to create and manage a dietetic regiment for optimized performance, offers 1.7 continuing education credits for fitness professionals. In order to maintain credentials, such professionals must earn a total of 2.0 continuing education credits every two years.
The program, which is one of the most popular curriculums offered by Penn Foster, includes courses in Nutrition and Supplements in Training, as well as Body Composition and Weight Management. The continuing education program, as with all programs offered by Penn Foster, is pay-as-you-go, affording students flexibility to learn while maintaining their professional, familial, and financial responsibilities.
Along with ACE approval for Sports Nutrition, Penn Foster also offers a Certified Personal Trainer Program through the National Council on Strength and Fitness.
