Scranton, PA (October 23, 2013) – Penn Foster, a leader in career-focused online and blended education designed to address the skills gap in America, hosted a pet vaccination clinic at its Scranton headquarters on Saturday, October 19. In celebration of National Veterinary Technician Week, Penn Foster’s clinic offered affordable rabies and distemper vaccines for cats and dogs. Dr. Amanda Teter, assistant director of the school’s veterinary technician program, administered a total of 125 vaccines to the pets of Penn Foster employees and faculty.
“This clinic functioned as an important link between our employees and our esteemed Veterinary Technician Program,” said Joe Gagnon, President and COO of Penn Foster. “The services provided our faculty a valuable opportunity to learn more about the program while their pets received necessary preventative care in an affordable and accessible way.”
In addition to Dr. Teter, other veterinary technician program staff members were present to assist and answer pet health-related questions. Penn Foster’s accredited veterinary technician associate degree allows students to work toward their career goals at their own pace and gain real-world experience through practicums at animal hospitals, such as Penn Foster partner Banfield Pet Hospital, and veterinary practices.
