SCRANTON, PA, (February 7, 2017) — Penn Foster Career School, a leading skills training provider focused on improving employability for workers across a range of in-demand fields, announced the launch of its Security Guard Diploma. The program offers a skills training solution designed to help prepare students for entry-level employment as an unarmed Security Guard, where it would be their responsibility to guard, patrol, and monitor a designated area to prevent theft, violence, or the infractions of rules.
Penn Foster's affordable, self-paced program will provide students with a strong background to help them prepare for an entry-level position working in security services. This program can be a stepping stone for students interested in pursuing a career in criminal justice, and helps to round out its portfolio of criminal justice and law enforcement program offerings. Penn Foster offers this program directly to students and through its partnering organizations.
"We want students to feel confident when applying for entry-level positions in the field of security services," said Dara Warn, Chief Outcomes Officer, Penn Foster. "We're proud to offer a wide array of online criminal justice programs that are all strong career options and help mitigate the growing workforce gap."
The regionally and nationally accredited program covers an array of competencies in security services responsibilities including: professional conduct and communication; working with the public and emergency personnel; civil and criminal law and liability; crime and crime scenes; arrest, search, and seizure; emergency procedures; and evidence. Upon completion of the diploma program, students will have the option to continue advancing their education in several of Penn Foster's portfolio of law enforcement programs including Penn Foster Career School's Business Security Certificate, Forensic Computer Examiner Certificate, or Private Investigator Career Diploma or Penn Foster College's Criminal Justice Associate Degree, and Criminal Justice Bachelor's Degree.
