How are online college courses taught?

At Penn Foster, all of our courses can be completed while learning remotely. Once you enroll at Penn Foster, you will be able to log into your student portal and begin learning. Each course will contain a reading or a video lecture with a skills assessment at the end. Check the program details or speak to an admissions representative if you have any questions before enrolling.

How do I take college courses online?

If you haven’t taken online classes before, you may not be sure what to expect or how things work - and that can seem intimidating! It doesn’t have to be. There are several things you can expect when you enroll in an online program with Penn Foster including self-paced learning, online lectures, low-cost tuition, and self-motivated studying.

What is the average cost of an individual course at Penn Foster?

Are online college classes harder than in-person classes?

It depends, for some people who are self-motivated they may find online classes more beneficial as they can study at their own pace. Some people find online classes more challenging because it is harder to stay motivated. Opting for online courses over traditional in-person classes is not the easy route for your education but it does have its advantages. It's true that online classes offer more flexibility in the fact that you can study or login on your own time, but you will still have to take exams and study.

Can I transfer these credits to other Penn Foster programs?

Upon successful completion of the course, reach out to our admissions team and speak to an admissions specialist. From there you can choose to continue with Penn Foster and enroll in one of our online degree programs, or transfer your credits elsewhere

What happens if I need academic help while taking an online course?

If you need help while taking an online course with Penn Foster, there are a variety of resources available including help from instructors by email and phone, academic advocates to help you navigate your lessons, and a Learning Resource Center that includes recorded webinars, how-to documents, and more to help you successfully complete your studies.

Refund Policy

At Penn Foster, we continue to develop new ways to expand and improve student satisfaction. However, if the course isn't the right fit for you or you are not satisfied with your experience, we do offer a refund policy. If you cancel within the first 6 days of enrollment you will receive a full refund. After the first 6 days your refund amount will be based on:

  • Lessons completed
  • Tuition collected
  • Enrollment date
