Program Goal

To prepare students for the Certified Medical Laboratory exam through online study and hands-on training.

Upon completion of the program, students will be able to...

Apply knowledge of medical terminology and anatomy and physiology to effectively communicate with healthcare professionals and understand laboratory test requisitions.
Demonstrate professionalism and ethical conduct in all aspects of laboratory practice, including patient confidentiality, respect for diversity, and adherence to regulatory requirements.
Collaborate effectively with members of the healthcare team, including healthcare providers, nurses, and other allied health professionals, to ensure coordinated patient care and accurate laboratory testing.
Interpret and report laboratory test results accurately, recognizing normal and abnormal findings and understanding the significance of quality control measures.
Demonstrate proficiency in specimen collection techniques, including venipuncture, capillary puncture, and specimen processing for various laboratory tests.
Understand and apply principles of medical laboratory science, including basic laboratory procedures, safety protocols, and quality assurance measures.
Identify common laboratory equipment and instruments used in medical laboratory settings and demonstrate proper handling, maintenance, and calibration techniques.
