Enrollment Requirements

  • Age - 13
    • Any student who is of compulsory age must ensure the program satisfies the state and local education requirements in their school district, or students will be considered truant. You need to check the requirement of your school district to ensure the Penn Foster High School program satisfies these requirements.
  • Education - 8th Grade
    • Age 13-17:
      • Unfortunately, minors would need to be directed back to their school districts as we are unable to enroll a minor who has not successfully completed 8th grade.
    • Age 18 and older:
      • Prospective students who are over the age of 18 may be able to take a standardized test such as the TABE, HiSET, GED, or California Achievement Test (CAT) (With Premium Scoring) and use the results to satisfy the 8th grade completion requirement.
      • Prospective students are responsible for finding a location to take the test and any costs that may be associated with it.
      • Prospective students do not necessarily have to "pass" one of these tests to satisfy the requirements, as their score can be reviewed by our education team to determine if they have performed at an 8th grade level.
  • Technology Requirements - You will need access to high-speed internet to begin your program. In addition, you will need access to a Microsoft® Windows® based computer running Windows 10® or later or an Apple® Mac® computer running macOS® Sierra Version 11.2 or later, Microsoft® Office 2019 or Microsoft 365® and an email account to complete this program with Penn Foster.

Transfer Credits

Penn Foster reduces tuition by $20 for each high school course transferred.

To receive transfer credits, an official transcript from an accredited institution recognized by Penn Foster must be submitted for evaluation. Transfer credits will be awarded for comparable high school subjects where a full credit has been earned. Since high school programs vary, only an evaluation by Penn Foster will determine the actual number of transfer credits to be awarded. Penn Foster also accepts transfer credits from a GED. The maximum number of transfer credits allowed is 15. Upon our acceptance of your transfer credits, an adjustment to your financial obligation will be made.

Refund Policy
